Support Group

The Special-Needs Pets Support Group meets on the last Saturday of every month in the downstairs meeting room at the Greenwood Branch Library, at the corner of Greenwood and 81st in Seattle.  All are welcome.  Details, dates, and times are available on the Rainbow Ark web site, or contact us for further information.

For e-mail notification of upcoming meetings, you can subscribe to the Special-Needs Pets Announcements list.

If you need assistance in caring for your pet, such as a ride to the vet or help giving subcutaneous fluids the first time, or if you can offer help to other caregivers, you can subscribe to the Special-Needs Pets Help list.

Pet Sitters

One of the biggest challenges that I have found with my own special-needs pets is finding qualified pet sitters willing and able to care for my animals when I am away from home.

The following Seattle area pet sitters are willing to take on clients with special-needs pets.  For information about their qualifications and rates, please contact them directly.

DISCLAIMER: I do not necessarily endorse or recommend any of the pet sitters listed here.  Before you hire a pet sitter, I strongly recommend that you carefully screen prospective pet sitters to ensure that they are trained and/or experienced in providing the appropriate care for your special-needs pet.  I recommend that you interview pet sitters, preferably in your home so you can see how they interact with your pets before you hire them; check to see if they have a business license and liability insurance; and ask for at least three references from vets and clients that they work with.
