Major Barbara     Archy and Mehitabel     Tye     Lillybit     Maddie

Maddie is my rescue kitten, adopted about six weeks after Tye's death.  She is probably a Manx mix.  She came to me in mid-February 2002 with a prolapsed rectum.  She had surgery to correct the prolapse at the end of February, but the surgery was only partially effective in reducing the prolapse, because Maddie also has Inflammatory Bowel Disease, which exacerbated the problem.  Once she began being treated for the IBD as well, her prolapse finally resolved itself, and she's doing extremely well.

Miss Maddie, approx 6 or 7 months of age

In case you ever wondered what a prolapsed rectum looks like:
Maddie, post-surgery, before we started treating her IBD.

These gymnastics are her reaction to hearing Archy
on the other side of the door "mrrrp"-ing at her,
before they were formally introduced

Maddie has a very important job - supervising the deskjet

Maddie at 1 year old - "helping" a friend eat her dinner.

Checking out the moving box, Sept. 2002

The cage is my "cat infirmary" where new/sick cats
are confined until they are ready to (re)join the
rest of the household.  Maddie took a great liking to the
cage, so I've left it up for her to use as her safe
retreat anytime she pleases.
